The Last of Us

If there was a video game that I wish I ever written about, it is The Last Of Us, and why? Because it was the first video game that I played in years that just left me hungering for more once I had finished. And luckily I was able to acquire the second game afterwards so I could continue this story that I just wish was never over.

But, this essay is about the first game, the best of the two in my opinion, and also the one that transcends the medium of video games in a way that I hadn’t seen since Metal Gear Solid II: a video game that plays and feels like a movie, or, to be more precisely, like a TV Series.

From the first frames until the bitter end, that leaves one feeling rather empty but also full, the player feels like he/she is living inside this world, even if it is through the eyes of someone elese. And yes, both protagonists survive, with a lie hanging between them, but still they are left with a chance at a better life in this post-apocalyptic earth, ravaged by disease, social disorder and chaos.

Although it is a third-person perspective type of game, the way one plays it, it feels like you are always viewing the story through the eyes of the protagonists, like I side above. One becomes the protagonist and feels every emotion that the characters do, which due to the incredible voice acting and direction.

It is a game which deserves to be remembered has a piece of art that surpasses the confines of its’ world, becoming more of an experience than just a video game.
